Care & Maintenance of Haix Boots

haix_logo.jpgHaving bought Haix footwear, we believe that you have made the perfect choice. You have purchased a genuine quality product that distinguishes itself by its special technical qualities. The life of the footwear, as well as your comfort can be considerably improved and enhanced by using correct product after care.
Comfort can be significantly increased by wearing well designed and manufactured functional socks. Haix socks have been specifically designed to transport foot moisture quickly and efficiently to the lining material of the boot. It's an interesting fact that roughly an egg cup full of perspiration comes off each foot per day. Wearing socks with high wicking capability like the Haix socks helps promote good foot hygiene.
80% of foot moisture is transported away from the sole of the foot, and the insole in all Haix boots is again specifically designed to get the moisture away efficiently. However, in time the efficiency of the insole falls, so the simple solution is firstly, every day when you take off your boots lift up the insole and leave it standing vertically to air and dry. Wash the insoles on a low heat on a monthly basis to keep them clean and working well, and perhaps every 6 months treat yourself to a new replacement pair which will ensure that you have good foot hygiene throughout the working life of the boot.
Soiled boots should only be cleaned with a brush and water. Never dry wet boots quickly in front of an open fire or heater. Doing this dries out the leather making it brittle and crack. You should start cleaning the boots by firstly removing the insole then stuffing the boots with newspaper or by using a shoe press. Allow the boots to dry slowly under dry air conditions. Then brush off any remaining dirt and treat the leather with a non greasy shoe care product such as Haix polish or spray. The leather on your Haix boots has been oil tanned to make the hide soft, flexible and breathable. Using greasy products containing fat or leather oil, prevents the leather breathing and your foot moisture escaping. If you are using polish, always polish over metal parts as this helps prevent oxidation.
It is interesting that when we attend trade shows and look at the boots of all brands people walk around in, the vast majority have had zero maintenance since new. That's great for boot manufacturers but not so good for the pockets of the user.

First Aid

Stop Bleeding..........Save Lives..........

For some, help may only be seconds away, but for many it's much longer. Severe bleeding can cause shock or death in less than 10 minutes. Moderate, prolonged bleeding can do the same.
