This esoteric name sums up a culture that is a thousand years old. "Rough blacksmiths", that's what they used to call toolmakers, when the Venetians in the 1700's allowed the local language to define a corporation, and allowed the activity of the smithy to to be ensured with continuous employment.
The need for arms for the Serenissima fleet, and also tools for lumberjacks and farmers, marked the beginning of the first blacksmith activities in Maniago.
Today, Maniago with it's cutlery district is a world leader in the production of metallic instruments for domestic and professional use in industry and crafts.
Anyone born in this region of Italy meets this culture as a child. In the stories of people, in the life of villagers and in the signs that history has left in the small town of Maniago. A precious and antique culture as in the passion of the craftsmen and the research which is called "work" but which nonetheless remains an art of continuous invention, of shapes and new uses.

The history of Sta-for really starts in more recent times. First there was a workshop equipped for general mechanical work and the construction of dies. Then along came the production of cutting tools for vines and general gardening, supported by equipment to produce special turned and milled components. The continued use of educational and technological research today allows Sta-for to move rapidly from prototype creation to final production and marketing the finished product.
The final result is the pride of the craftsmen who made it.
